Community Involved and In Action For You !

Stewart County CI Inmate Fire Department

In conjunction with the Stewart County Volunteer Fire Department, Stewart County EMS works hand in hand with the established inmate fire department. Inmates from Stewart County Correctional Facility are trained to be firefighters, and respond to local emergencies. These inmates have proven themselves a blessing to Stewart County over and over again, helping to save many lives and property. Once leaving the facility, they are trained in a career that will enrich their lives and have a positive impact on the community in which they will reside. Not all inmates are accepted to the fire department however! They must undergo rigorous screening and prove themselves to be of the caliber necessary for such work. EMT's and Medics from Stewart County EMS work closely with these men to promote the welfare of the citizens of Stewart County.

Emergency Medical Technician Training

In conjunction with Darton College of Albany, Stewart County EMS is serving as a training site for their community-based EMT-Intermediate class held in Preston, Georgia. Students attending this class will be trained to become intermediate emergency medical technicians receiving certification first from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians , then from the State of Georgia. Helping to promote the training of local people to augment the service roster is one way that the EMS is serving to further education in the community.

School Presentations, Health Screenings, Community Education

The personnel of Stewart County EMS regularly participate in presentations to local schoolchildren about EMS. Personnel also help to screen local citizens who require blood pressure or finger stick checks from time to time. EMS often assists the county by identifying people at need and helping to match them with resources that are available to them. By using their talents to help spread information and good will toward the citizens of Stewart County, the EMS has become an asset to the population. Prevention, education and dedication help to serve the people of Stewart County. Staff from the EMS crew also participate in other functions to help serve the community and the state by service on children's boards, information gathering boards, and other areas.
